Gyros with tzatziki

  1. 100 g cucumber
  2. 2 cloves of garlic
  3. 250 g curd (20% fat)
  4. 150 g greek yogurt
  5. salt, pepper
  6. 1 tbs lemon juice
  1. 3 onions
  2. 4 twigs thyme
  3. 4 twigs oregano
  4. 1 twig rosemary
  5. 600 g strips of meat (pork or lamb)
  6. 3 tbs olive oil
  7. 1/2 ts cumin powder
  8. 2 ts sweet paprika powder
  9. salt, pepper

1. Peel, halve and de-seed the cucumber with a spoon. Cut the cucumber into pieces. Peel the garlic and finely chop with the cucumber in the Quick Cut.

2. Stir in the curd and yogurt, season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice. Chill until serving.


3. Peel, halve and cut the onions into slices. Remove the herbs from the stems and finely chop.

4. Thoroughly mix the meat with the olive oil, herbs and cumin powder cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

5. Heat the pan on highest level up to the roasting window, switch to a low level and roast the marinated meat in batches. Roast the onions too with the last batch.

6. Remove the pan from the hob, cover with the lid and let the gyros stand for approx. 2 minutes. Add the paprika powder and season to taste with salt and pepper. Arrange on plates and serve with tzatziki.
