Green bean stew

  1. 750 g floury potatoes
  2. 500 g green beans
  3. 1 onion
  4. 150 g bacon cubes
  5. 1 ts dried savory
  6. 500 ml vegetable broth
  7. salt, pepper
  8. sugar to taste
  9. 3 tbs white wine vinegar

1. Peel and dice potatoes, clean the beans and cut them diagonally into small pieces. Peel and finely cut the onion.

2. Heat the pot on highest level up to the roasting window, switch to a low level and roast the diced bacon. Add the onion and roast.

3. Add the potatoes, beans, savory and broth. Heat the pot on highest level up to the vegetable window, switch to a low level and cook for approx. 20 minutes in the vegetable area.

4. Season to taste with salt, pepper, a pinch of sugar and vinegar.


  • In Lower Saxony, this is traditionally served with scrambled eggs or pancakes.
