  • 1h 10 minutes
  1. 400 g sour apples
  2. 60 g butter, melted
  3. 1 tbs breadcrumbs
  4. 1 tbs sugar
  5. 1 pinch cinnamon
  6. 1 ts zest of an organic lemon
  7. 30 g raisins
  8. 1 package strudel dough (rectangular, approx. 120 g, 4 sheets of dough)
  9. powdered sugar for dusting

1. Peel, quarter and core the apples and slice them horizontally into thin rings.

2. Mix half of the butter with breadcrumbs, sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest, raisins and apple slices.

3. Place one piece of strudel dough on a dishtowel and coat it with a thin layer of butter. Place another sheet of dough on top, then coat that with butter too.

4. Spread half of the apple mixture across the lower third of the dough, then fold in the sides before rolling out the dough (using the towel to help you) and then placing the entire strudel in the pot.

5. Make a second strudel in the same way, place it in the pot as well and brush both strudels with butter.

6. Place the pot on the hob and switch it to a low level. Place Navigenio overhead and switch to low level, bake for approx. 20 minutes.

7. At the end of the baking time, switch off hob and Navigenio, then allow to cook the pastry for an additional approx. 10 minutes with the residual heat .

8. Remove the strudel from the pot, dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Tip

  • This pastry tastes best when served with homemade vanilla sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you can’t find strudel dough at the supermarket, you can either use phyllo dough or make your own strudel dough.
