kidney beans

Pasta, rice and pulses

Kidney beans are healthy food that satiates. They have a high content of protein, fibre and yet only a little fat. They contain a lot of magnesium and can hence boost nerve and muscle activity. They taste slightly sweet, floury and soft and go well as an ingredient in soup and as a side to wraps and in salads. Kidney beans can be bought either in dried form or tinned. From the tin: simply drain and it's done. The dried kidney beans have to be soaked overnight before cooking and the water used to soak should be poured out.
