Chocolate and vanilla dessert

  1. 1 vanilla bean
  2. 500 ml milk
  3. 2 egg yolks
  4. 40 g cornstarch
  5. 2 tbs sugar
  6. 70 g dark chocolate
  7. 1 tbs orange liqueur
  8. 2 tbs rum
  9. 200 g cream
  10. chocolate shavings

1. Scrape out the insides of the vanilla bean. Stir milk with egg yolks, starch, sugar and vanilla pulp in the pot.

2. Bring to a boil on highest level while stirring constantly with a whisk, switch to a low level and simmer for approx. 5 minutes while stirring constantly.

3. Halve the mixture, break the chocolate into pieces and melt in half of the mixture. Stir in the orange liqueur and let cool. Stir the rum into the other half of the mixture and let cool too.

4. Whip the cream until stiff and stir half of each into both cream. Layer both creams in four jars and chill for approx. 2 hours. Sprinkle with chocolate flakes and serve.

Tip

  • Place the plastic wrap directly over top the cream to prevent a film from forming.
  • Add the sliced-open vanilla bean to a jar. This is how homemade vanilla sugar is made.
